From the FISH Philosophy of customer service, which of the 4 principles can you relate to? Which do you feel you could implement within the first week of your new Co-Op?

Probably have fun. When starting a new job it can be nerve racking you want ot make sure your doing everything right and for some people it's hard to communicate with other co- workers. I think have fun would work real well in a situation like that you just be yourself and play around and crack jokes and make the job day pass by quick. Don't get me wrong it's not goof off it's have fun well doing the work and learning the new job.
I would say Play would relate to me the most. I'm one of those people who doesn't really like to work unless its something i want to do. So in order for me to want to go into work everyday i want to be able to ahve fun but get work done at the same time. This could carry into my coop because we are in the fun industry, we can go to work a goof around with people so they enjoy their experience while at the same time watching out for their safety and teaching them soemthing they couldn't do before, and if you've done it correctly they dont even realize.
I would definitly say, the ability to make someone's day while doing your job is the most important aspect in service delivery. When someone pays to experience the service your providing, they are expecting just that, but if you go above and beyond and help them improve, give positive comments and maintain a good attitude you will make their day. It doesn't take much energy and it means a lot to the customers. I try to implement this as much as possible at every job I do, I plan to this year as well.
I would have to say that the principle that I relate to from the FISH philosophy would defentally be have fun. I think it is the most important thing to do when you are working. If you can't have fun at your job what fun is your life going to be since work is about 75 percent of your life. I think it is alos necesarry to have fun and have a positive attitude at a new job for sure. I feel that if you have a positive attitude people around you will have one too and will make the company you are working for happier and in turn will raise the production rate. So have fun with your job.
I think that being able to make someones day is one part of the FISH philosophy that I feel I have tried to use already but I think I could improve on it in my rental shop. If someone has had a bad experience it sucks seeing them upset in the rental shop when everyone else is on the mountain. Sometime's when we get really busy it's easy to neglect some customer's and I think if everyone made an effort to be more alert to ALL the customers then we would see less discouraged and dissipointed customers. When we do have extra time I think it's important to go the extra mile so the customer is not just satisfied but impressed.
I think that make their day applies to me the most becuase i believe that in the tourism industry its all about the guest expierenece. Guest expierence can make or break your resort, having an energetic and enthusiastic employee will keep the customers coming and enjoying their stay.
From the Fish Philosophy i would relate to play because you work harder when your having fun and playing and you will do your job alot better. No one is going to work hard if their job is not fun and will not look forward going to work. When your having fun at your job means that your happy and you will do your job as best you can. I would implement play as well because that is what our industry focuses on and when your playing you are having fun. For example, when you teach a lesson you want it to be fun because you learn better from that and they are having a good time resulting in them coming back for more.
I think that fun is an excellent principle to relate to because if people can have fun at work then its not really considered work. and it becomes something that they can enjoy. therefore if customers see that empoloyees are relaxed, it makes for a more relaxed environment for them to be in. i think that i can implement fun into my work at whistler this year by having fun with the kids that i teach so that they can have a positive experience and in turn make them want to come back.
I think I can relate to the principle of making the customers into fans because if you show a positive work ethic, and make the customer want to return, it looks real good on the business and shows that you really care for what you do. I think you could implement the fun idea in your first week of co-op because it shows you liek waht you are doing and if you do then it reflect on how welll you do in your job.
I think that all four parts of the FISH philosophy are important and they definetly make work go by faster. I love making people's day. It's usually something small and not very noticable but it really counts for someone. And being able to know that they were satisfied after dealing with me, really helps me to enjoy what I do.
Making work go by fast by having fun and playing around relates to me. Having fun at work will allow me to do a better job if I enjoy what I am doing. Working in the demo tents were fun because I got to work with various boards and skis while making people's day at the same time.
I would have to say that I can relate more to the "play" philosophy. I'm also one of those types of people that rather not be working unless I want to be there and I am enjoying myself. And in order to be enjoying myself I have to "play" and have fun. If you are having fun and playing around, in a professional way, people will remember you and will probably come back to your work.
Making a customers day is the number one thing in my mind in service delivry, i think this entails alot of the aspects of fish. such as fun, for example, if the person is having fun then there is a good chance that they will have a good memory about their experience. Play is another thing that can be done to initialy make the cusomters day. working teaching skiing and working retail for years to me has tought me that making the customers day is a huuge part of service delivery.
I would have to say "Make there day" If I am in a good mood or a bad mood i can turn it on and off like a light swich. If I see someone 4 days in a row, I make sure to make communicate with them so they no that they are noticed. Each day i add on and by the end of their vacation I sometimes fell like i have made a apart of their vac. better. Even if its by telling them the best run of the day or giving them good pointers on skiing or boarding or just telling them the hot spots at night. Talking to your customers is key. Ashley Olliff
Play is the principle that I relate to the most and it is also the easiet one for me to implement. Whatever I do I like to have fun and mess around while I am doing it. When I teach lessons I like to make sure my students have fun and the easiest way to do this is to make them laugh by telling jokes explianing things in a funny way and by telling them I am in the olympics so tyhey dont question anything I say and to make sure they pay attention to the things I tell them to do. But yeah play is the principle for me.
I would have to say that go out of your way to impress is the fish element i enjoy impimenting the most. I really enjoy putting a smile on some ones face by doing somthing a guest wouldent expect.
I feel that choose your attitude is the most relavant point from the fish phylosophy. Whenever i go to work no matter how i feel I realize that the customer will react better to me if im in an awsome mood. I also find that when your haveing fun it makes time go faster and just makes the day easier.
Of the 4 principles from the FISH philosophy, I could probably relate to is choose your attitude. There is no point in being in a bad mood or to have a bad attitude. All you will be doing is ruining others and your own day. In the first week of Co-Op I will try to implement the prinicple of making someones day. I think that it is one of the most important of the 4 principles in the FISH philosophy.
I think all four parts of the fish movie can come into play and be really effective in most business'
personally the ones that I like are choosing your attitude the moment you walk through the doors of your business. And the second being making their day. If every single employee was infact able to make one persons day memorable everyone would be able to get along as a more cohesive unit.
I would have the say that choose your attitude is the most important of the 4 FISH principles. There is no point in being in a bad moos all day. It is just going to make you feel worse and bring down others around you. Although you may not always feel like being at work it will become a lot more enjoyable if you just put on a smile and interact with the people around you in a pleasurable way.
I think i could relate to play the most. If i am enjoying what im doing i will do a better job. As long as you keep the play to a professional manner it should be a problem at your resort. Sometimes play can also make someones day, it might just be that last snowball fight that you stopped to have on your last run of the day.
The FISH principle that I relate to most would be to PLAY because I always want to play around so if I'm at work thats the way its going to get done best for me. In the snow sport industry this is perfect because people invovled are usually looking to have a good time so playing while doing work in the industry is a good way to get it done in a reasonable manner.
i feel that i can relate to play the most. at horseshoe where i have been working for years, all the full time snow school staff joke around all the time, play little pranks on eachother, and even our supervisors get involved. our boss went on a ski course for a week and we emptied out his office and put up all snowboard pictures for when he returned. playing at work keeps the staff happy which makes the customers have a better time
